Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Director of Government Auditing to lead the planning, execution, and review of audits for government entities and nonprofit clients. This hybrid position is based in Oakland, MD, and offers the opportunity to provide hands-on leadership, support client relationships, and contribute to the strategic direction of the audit practice.
This role is ideal for a seasoned CPA with a strong foundation in Audit & Assurance (A&A) and a track record of conducting government audits, including financial statement preparation and single audits.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the preparation, review, and delivery of complex government audit engagements in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and ensuring top-tier client service.

Provide guidance and mentorship to audit staff and ensure adherence to firm policies and audit methodologies.

Oversee project timelines, budgets, and engagement scopes, ensuring efficient and accurate execution.

Support internal process improvements and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and compliance.

Utilize audit tools such as CCH ProSystem fx Engagement to streamline workflow and enhance audit accuracy (preferred experience).
Qualifications
-CPA designation (required)
-68 years of progressive experience in public accounting
-Significant experience in Audit & Assurance (A&A), with a focus on government and nonprofit audits
-Proficiency in financial statement audits and single audits
-Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements, mentor staff, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
-Experience with CCH ProSystem fx Engagement is a plus
